ABOUT TJ Adorno
TJ Adorno is a guitarist, emcee, and song writer from Queens, New York. He has been active in NYC's creative music scenes since 2014, performing in the genres of Jazz, Hip Hop, Rnb, and Rock. He first developed his passion as a student at NYC’s prestigious LaGuardia Arts High School. While attending, TJ performed as a guitarist for Jazz music weekly at the Jazz Standard with their Youth Orchestra program, as well as, for Kaufman Center's Face the Music group. Before graduating, he performed at various venues including: Carnegie Hall, Brooklyn Bowl, and Roulette Brooklyn where he also debuted an original composition with Face the Music.
He went on to study briefly at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, where he composed extensively in the genres of Jazz and Hip Hop. His debut EP entitled “XII” (Feb. 2018) showcased his talents as a composer, guitarist, musical director, and producer. The project was a one time collaboration with NYC based QNA band (2015-2018), which was recorded at HighBreedMusic in Brooklyn. TJ exhibited these original compositions in venues throughout NYC, and toured the Mid West in the summers of 2016 and 2017.
Since then, TJ has performed and collaborated with NYC based Hip Hop artists including: Frank Knight, Oshun, Mike Larry Draw, Chelsea Reject, Latasha Alcindor, among others.
In the summer of 2017, TJ recorded with Rich Bomzer Projects for their debut EP "Last Nite". The project featured TJ as a guitarist and rapper on the song "Never Felt Like This Before". The group went on to perform at venues including: Shapeshifter Lab, The Well, and The Big Kahuna in order to promote the project.
Afterwards, TJ completed his Bachelors degree in Jazz Performance at the SUNY Purchase Conservatory for Music, where he studied Jazz Guitar with Vic Juris and the late John Abercrombie in the year 2018.
Currently, TJ performs under the stage name TEEJ with his band the SidePocket, featuring his talents as a bandleader, guitarist, emcee, and composer. The group has headlined events at NYC venues including: The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, and Pine Box Rock Shop, and more. He also performs Jazz and Pop music with his group TEEJ TRIO, which features NYC's best Jazz vocalists and horn players. TEEJ will be releasing new music in 2019.
